New Format of the T20 World Cup 2024

In the T20 World Cup, 20 teams will be split into 4 groups of 5 teams. The top 2 teams from each group move to the Super 8s. Here, they form two groups of 4 teams each. The top 2 teams from these groups advance to the semi-finals, creating an exciting progression format in the tournament.

For the T20 World Cup 2024, besides the hosts, eight spots are allocated to the top performers from the 2022 edition, with Australia, England, Pakistan, India, Netherlands, New Zealand, South Africa, and Sri Lanka securing positions. Two spots are based on November 14 rankings, claimed by Afghanistan and Bangladesh. The remaining eight seats are designated for regional qualifiers: two teams each from Africa, Asia, and Europe, while one team each from the Americas and East Asia-Pacific region will earn their place. This comprehensive qualifying system ensures representation from diverse regions, enhancing the global appeal of the tournament.

India won the ICC T20 World Cup only once in 2007 under the captaincy of MS Dhoni. India has actively participated in the T20 World Cup, engaging in a total of 89 matches. Additionally, three matches concluded with either a tie or no result.
