Farhan Akhtar greets Kiara Advani :
Bollywood actress Kiara Advani, known for her role in ‘Satyaprem Ki Katha‘, has joined the cast of the third installment of the action-thriller film ‘Don‘. Alongside her, Ranveer Singh will take on the lead role previously portrayed by Bollywood megastar Shah Rukh Khan. The first two films, released five years apart, featured SRK in the titular role. The film’s makers recently took to Instagram to share a video announcing Kiara’s inclusion in the cast.
‘Don 3‘ stands out as one of the most highly anticipated films, considering the franchise’s nearly two-decade legacy. Ranveer’s casting in the lead role generated significant buzz, reminiscent of SRK’s initial portrayal, which followed veteran Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan’s portrayal in the 1978 film ‘Don,’ directed by Chandra Barot. Reportedly, filming for ‘Don 3’ is scheduled to commence in August. The movie is helmed by Farhan Akhtar and produced by Excel Entertainment.
In the preceding announcement video, Ranveer reiterates the iconic line, “11 mulkon ki police dhundti hai mujhe, par pakadh paya hai mujhko kaun. Main hun Don” (Police of 11 countries haven’t been able to nab me. I am Don). This line is synonymous with the character and essence of the ‘Don’ franchise.
Farhan Akhtar’s journey with the series began with the initial installment released in 2006. This film was a contemporary adaptation of the legendary ‘Don’ movie starring Amitabh Bachchan, which premiered in 1978. Farhan’s interpretation of the story garnered significant attention and appreciation from audiences.
Building on the success of the first film, Farhan embarked on creating a sequel titled ‘Don 2.’ Released in 2011, this installment surpassed expectations, becoming a blockbuster hit. Its reception further solidified the franchise’s position as a significant player in the Indian film industry, captivating audiences with its thrilling narrative and compelling characters.
